For over 25 years, PBG Prenzlauer Baubedarf was rooted as an independent building materials retailer in northern Brandenburg with its wide range of building materials, wood, roofing and gardening products. When it was time to find a successor in 2019 due to age reasons, two regional entrepreneurs took over the business. They invested around 4 million € in the site and developed a new retail concept in close cooperation with their procurement association. PBG Prenzlauer Baubedarf became a proven company set for growth.
After successfully positioning the company for the future, the two owners decided to sell PBG Prenzlauer Baubedarf in order to be able to focus on their core business. Their aim was to ensure that the company could continue its growth trajectory as part of a well-established national player.
EUROCON was mandated by the two shareholders to find a suitable new owner and to lead the negotiation and sales process.
After intensive discussions with potential investors, the best strategic fit was identified with Flensburger team baucenter GmbH & Co. KG. Key factors considered by sell-side included the secured economic development of the site as well as the transfer of all employees and job security.
For team on the buyer’s side, the acquisition of PBG Prenzlauer Baubedarf strengthens their regional market position. “The takeover will enable us to offer an additional point of contact and will create real added value through our strong customer focus and individual services,” explained the new Managing Director Bernd Seibold.
